Idly is a very healthy option for breakfast and is one of my favorite breakfast recipes. The batter is left to ferment overnight and the fermentation process makes it very healthy. This South Indian Ragi Idly Recipe is a delicious and even more healthier version of the regular idly. 

Idly has been one of my most favorite breakfasts. Quick to make, super easy to serve, dunk a fluffy piece of Idly in fresh chutney and piping hot Sambhar .

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Urad dal
  • 1 1/2 Cup Ragi rava
  • 1/2 Cup Idly rava
  • Salt

Instructions 

Preparation

  • Soak Urad dal in enough water for 5 hours.
  • Soak idly rava in another bowl for 2 hours.
  • Soak Ragi rava in another bowl for 5 hour.

Method

  • Dain the water from urad dal and grind to a smooth paste.Use little water if required.
  • Transfer to a mixing bowl.
  • Drain the water from Idly rava and add it in the urad dal batter.
  • Drain the water from ragi rava and add it in the urad dal batter.
  • Mix well .
  • Place the mixture in a warm place for 8-10 hours to ferment.
  • The mixture will double in size after it is properly fermented.
  • Add salt in the mixture and mix well.
  • Grease idli plates and fill with the batter.
  • Steam for 10-12 minutes.
  • Serve hot with coconut or tomato chutney.

Notes

Wash Ragi rava 5-6 times before using . It have more dust particles

Preparation :

1.Soak Urad dal in enough water for 5 hours.

2.Soak idly rava in another bowl for 2 hours.

3.Soak Ragi rava in another bowl for 5 hour.

Method:

1.Dain the water from urad dal and grind to a smooth paste.Use little water if required.

2.Transfer to a mixing bowl
