There was a time when I used to make pizzas at home with ready made pizza bread. But after making bread at home and finding out they are far far better than the outside ones, I make even the pizza base at home now.

traditionally a italian cuisine recipe but very well popular all over the world. there are several variations and varieties of pizza recipe. however this recipe is simple veg pizza recipe with yeast and baked in oven. the toppings can be changed as per the preference and even meat can be added for meat eaters.

i prefer to have thin crust pizza . It will be crunchy. I have added cheese before veggies. I love veggies should be cruncy and it should not over cook. If you want veggies should be cooked well. Then add first veggies and cheese.

This pizza has a crisp, light and fluffy base with no overpowering flavor of yeast.

Important tips for making best pizza

  1. activate yeast : always activate your yeast first before you add it to the flour.
  2. Let the dough rise well: allow the dough to rise until it doubles rather than allowing it to rise for a certain period of time. It depends on temperature or place you live.

Ingredients

FOR PIZZA DOUGH:

  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp dry yeast
  • 2 cups maida / plain flour / all-purpose flour
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • water as required

FOR TOPPINGS:

  • 3 tbsp pizza sauce
  • 5 mushrooms sliced
  • 3 tbsp onion cubed
  • 1/4 cup green peppers cubed
  • jalapeƱos based on spice level
  • 2 tbsp black olives chopped
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese grated
  • 1/2 tsp pepper powder

Instructions 

  • In a mixing bowl take warm water, sugar and dry yeast and give a quick mix.
  • allow it to rest for 5 minutes.
  • now add maida, salt.
  • knead the dough adding water as required.
  • tuck the dough and form to a ball. place in a large greased mixing bowl.
  • Grease the oil for dough.
  • cover rest and rise in a warm place for about 2 hours.
  • punch the dough with fist to release down the air.

Veg pizza and baking

  • place the dough on dusted pizza plate or tray. (Here i have dusted with corn meal, if you don't have just dust with flour)
  • flatten the dough by stretching with both hands.
  • Then prick with centre of dough with the help of fork.
  • spread pizza sauce evenly.
  • Top with cheese
  • top with veggies.
  • sprinkle pepper powder.
  • bake at 475 degrees fahrenheit for about 12 – 15 minutes.
  • slice and serve .

Notes

  • vary the topping according to your choice.
  • freeze leftover dough in a airtight container or zip lock bag greasing with oil. dough stays fresh for atleast a month.
  • knead the dough well, else pizza will be chewy.

How to make homemade pizza with step by step :
