DRUMSTICK LEAVES POWDER RECIPE

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Drumstick leaves
  • 1/2 Cup Curry leaves
  • 1/2 Cup Peanuts
  • 1 tsp Chana dal
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp Urad dal
  • 4 or 5 Red chili
  • 4 Garlic Optional
  • Small lemon size Tamarind Optional
  • Salt

Instructions 

  • Separate the drumstick leaves from the stems and discard the stems. Wash the leaves and dry them on a dry kitchen cloth.
  • Take a pan and dry roast the ingredients (chana dal, urad dal, cumin seeds, garlic, red chili and peanuts).
  • When they become golden transfer to a plate and let cool completely.
  • In the same pan dry roast drumstick leaves and curry leaves.
  • Roast them until they are totally dried up and become crispy. They should become such crispy that you should be able to powder them in your hands. When they become such crunchy, then remove to another plate and keep aside.
  • Allow all these ingredients to cool completely
  • Transfer the dal dry roasted ingredients into blender along with salt and tamarind.
  • Blend into coarse .
  • Now add the drumstick leaves and curry leaves
  • Blend into powder.
  • Transfer to an airtight container.
  • Serve with hot idly or hot rice. Put the powder in the plate, make a well and put a teaspoonful of ghee and serve with hot idly. This would taste heavenly.
